The Neurofeed: Eat Lunch & Get Regulated

How is neurofeedback transforming lives? Join EEGer team lead Lars Vala and licensed therapist Leanne Hershkowitz in lively discussions with neurofeedback clinicians, home users, and researchers from around the world. We explore how clinical neurofeedack is changing the way we think about things like developmental trauma, disorders, thriving, diagnosis, recovery, community, learning, healing, and the brain. Occasionally, we will also do live streams, where you are welcome to join the discussion. Listen to a new recorded session every two weeks wherever you get podcasts, or see the discussion video recordinng on youtube at TheNeurofeed. These conversations will interest you if any of the following are true for you: * You are doing neurofeedback, * You are wondering if clinical neurofeedback is right for you, * You are a mental health professional considering integrating neurofeedback into your practice, * You want to know what these communities are learning about neuroplasticity, appropriate technology, embodied cognition, healthcare in the digital age, or the pivotal role of attachment-centered therapy in successful brain-training. The show is called The Neurofeed: Eat Lunch & Get Regulated. We know of course that not everyone has lunch at noon Eastern Time. Still, we celebrate global communities that experience the potential for better self-regulation. Together, we can change the world, one brain at a time.

Our guest today is Anna Morrell, M.S., LCMHC, BCNWith a Master's in Clinical Art Therapy, and introduced to Neurofeedback in 2010, Anna Morrell specializes in work with children, adolescents and caregivers. ย Having early on recognized the healing qualities of the arts, from expressing thoughts and feeling states to the regulating and grounding characteristics in the act of creation, Anna uses a person-centered, trauma-informed approach that draws on eurofeedback, Art Therapy, Sensory Modulation, and Play Therapy as a means to increase emotional stability, self exploration, and life engagement, especially for those impacted by developmental disabilities and trauma. ย She a offers neurofeedback mentoring and workshops on working with children and adolescents.

Our guest today is Frank Corrigan, MDFormerly an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of post-traumatic and dissociative disorders, Frank Corrigan is now in private practice. Author and co-author of multiple important texts about trauma, neuroscience, and therapy, Dr. Corrigan joins us to discuss a paradigm shift in the field of trauma recovery, brought about by his research and clinical process.ย
As a growing number of clinicians are discovering, with Deep Brain Reorienting, we are learning that it is possible, by gently slowing down and anchoring, to access the earliest moments of shock from trauma, recorded by the brainstem, and to empower survivors to clear these wounds without the overwhelm and dysregulation often triggered by reliving these terrible memories.
Dr. Corrigan will be teaching this modality next with EEG Learn in December 2023. See https://www.eeglearn.com/dbr for details.
๐™๐™๐™š ๐™‰๐™š๐™ช๐™ง๐™ค๐™›๐™š๐™š๐™™ ๐™‹๐™ค๐™™๐™˜๐™–๐™จ๐™ฉ -- This interview has a different focus than usual, as we're not explicitly discussing neurofeedback. One reason to explore this area is the number of neurofeedback clinicians that have begun using DBR in the last two years. Also, many of us have come to understand that, at best, like neurofeedback, DBR is working with lower brain structures, the deeper part of our neurophysiology, since this is where, it appears, that attachment rupture is first felt. As Sebern Fisher says in this interview, "It seems to me that the whole field of concentration on developmental trauma or complex trauma is turning -- and not so slowly -- toward attachment rupture or failure as the core issue." This is the therapeutic value of bottom-up processing. There is much to learn.
